A Connecticut Home living room designed by GailGray Home. Fireplace mantel decorations and furnishings were hand-selected by Gail for this home. This space utilizes a neutral color palette. For example, the walls use a light gray as the main color while the white becomes a trim and baseboard and blend right in to the frame of the fireplace. The furniture pieces are in shades of tan and off white, then decorated with patterned pillows and ottomans.
The bronze tone of the coffee table work well in tandem with the bronze toned picture frames, and the lamp on the piano. To complete the palette is the black finish of the fireplace and the piano. How the piano has been positioned makes it the focal point of the space – allowing your eyes to flow through it. The best way to decorate spaces like this is to add delicate pieces like plants with vases that match the color palette, or even glass vases. Utilize the space on the fireplace for mounted lamps. You can also utilize the space on the top of the piano to add extra decoration.
