2021 Fabric Trends

The glitz and glamour of New Year’s has faded, by my excitement for all that the new year will bring has not. We’ve had our first taste of what trends will dominate 2021 and I can’t wait to watch the creative ways in which they’ll be used throughout the year. That being said, here are the current fabric trends I’m keeping my eye on.

Florals

Fabric Trends for 2021 include Florals

Floral print is everywhere, and the diversity in the designs is astounding. We’re seeing everything from colorful, contemporary blooms that freshen up a room to dark, traditional blooms that recall the lost grandeur of a different time.

Velvet

Velvet Fabric is Trending in 2021

It’s making a comeback. Solid-colored matte velvets are popular right now, but we’re also seeing the resurgence of the more classic textured velvet.

Artisan

Embroidered Fabrics are Popular in 2021

Artisan fabrics are taking hold in a few different ways. Raw weaves with noticeable warps and wefts that mimic handwoven cloth are trending right now. We’ve also seen an uptick in embroidered fabrics, a trend that goes hand-in-hand with the rich tapestry designs that are popping up. The takeaway from this is that people are loving fabric that looks like it’s been touched by hand, not machine.

Natural Tones & Textures

Linen Fabric Trends This Year

Can colors and textures so timeless really be considered a trend? I’m going to mention them anyway. Think materials like raw silk, cotton linen, and wool in natural colors like creams, browns, and greys. I doubt these fabrics will ever go out of style.
